Preparing for Departure

Even though it’s over a week before I leave for Belize City (May 13th), my classmates and I are of course already getting ready for blast off. A couple of weeks ago we went to the Governor’s Mansion to make our Flat Stanleys and Stellas. Mine is Tennessee-tastic wearing a Tennessee state flag shirt. Flat Olivia is probably going to change shirts before she goes to Belize.

The UACS Flats are apart of First Lady Ginger Beebe’s literacy initiative throughout the state of Arkansas. During our travels we will be sending back pictures of our adventures to share with students of Arkansas, demonstrating that anything is possible and you can go anywhere.

Last week my pack arrived, so excited. It’s a 5000 cubic inch Go Lite, and we are going to be very close this summer. How hard was it for me not to pack for Belize right away? Extremely hard.
