Obama Rama!

I need to document these before I lose count! There have been LOTS of Obama t-shirts in the past week or so, and there are even two new categories! At Teacher’s Day Julianne and I saw a BIDEN t-shirt which is super exciting because I have never seen one of those in the states! The VP never gets love! The other new category was a portrait of the first couple at the inaugural ball. I like to think that Beyonce was singing to them while this photo was snapped.
Full disclosure: six of these t-shirts are Julianne’s sightings on her way to Teacher’s Day from Punta Gorda way back on the 12th. But I feel like they count because they all went to Teacher’s Day -which I too attended- and were under their day of t-shirts.

Now, I admittedly have been very level 2 about my political views, but all that aside… it feels GREAT to be out of the country with Obama in the White House. I’ve been out of the country twice before, once to the Czech Republic and once to South Korea, both under Bush’s watch. I don’t need to get into details, that would be very level 2 of me, but let’s just say their reaction to our commander-in-chief, and inevitably Americans, was much different.

Belizeans for Obama

You may recall during the presidential campaign that Obama had brilliant t-shirts/stickers/buttons with “_____________ for Obama” printed on them in the blue and white background with the unmistakable “O”. There was one for every state, every demographic, and even one for Republicans that made me giggle every time. There totally should have been a “Belizeans for Obama” option.

I can’t imagine what Obama love Dimas, Harvell, Ali, Jennifer and –eventually- Regina are experiencing in Africa because Belizeans have big love for Obama. So far I have seen four t-shirts, two baseball hats, a yard sign, and two bumper stickers (one on a car with a Kansas Jayhawk – blech!). This doesn’t include the Obama-wear I have seen in stores either.

*I wrote this before lunch today, and saw yet another Obama bumper sticker on my walk back to work. Make that three bumper stickers for Obama. McCain…eh… 0.
